Ross Marshall, Central Line West urged the union to ensure every region elected a SOS officer to co-ordinate activities and hold public meetings with invited guests. “We need a national SOS committee that meets four times a year comprising on the stations grades liaison committee, regional SOS officer, the org unit and senior figures in the union,” he said. Delegates also backed a call for the union to write to all train operating companies regarding the closure and de- staffing of stations.   Tim Thomas, Central and North Mersey said that the travelling public had a right to feel safe when travelling on the rail network but this was not happening at present.
