The RMT Credit Union is an ethical savings and loan service. It is run by the members for the members. All profits go back into the Credit Union and funds are used to pay an annual dividend and more services for you the members. As well your main Credit Union account you can join the Christmas Club which pays out in mid-November with a dividend to ease the financial pressure at Yuletide (see page 31). There is also a Summer Savings Club which pays out with a dividend in mid-July to pay for a well-earned holiday. RMT Credit Union member Ivor Riddell was glad that he saved for a special holiday. “I saved with the RMT Credit Union Summer account and paid for my holiday of a lifetime, to Niagra Falls in Canada. I barely noticed the money coming out and then I had enough to fly for my dream,” he said. Mia Baker, aged 5, was also pleased her Mum saved with the Christmas Club. “I dreamed all year about what I wanted for my, special Christmas present and Santa never let me down. Mummy said that it was because Santa very wisely saves with the RMT Credit Union. I didn’t really understand what she meant. But I love my present!” she said.
