But the bottom line is that whether we have found the perfect job, or we’re still hoping to find it, the reason we go to work is to get paid. And what we get paid should reflect the work we put in. Above all we should expect a fair day’s pay for a fair day’s work. If, like millions of British workers, you are short of cash by the third week in the month, if you’d need to take out a loan to cover a financial emergency such as a boiler or car repair, then no doubt you could do with more pay.
